SGMiner v5.6.0: Nicehash Fork for mining X11-Gost (SIBCoin)

Nvidia GPU miners currently have the advantage of mining X11-Gost with a faster hashrate for the newer Maxwell and Pascal GPUs than AMD miners. However, AMD miners may be interested in checking out the X11-Gost algorithm used by SIBCoin (SIB), as it is not too demanding on energy costs and with increased interest due to the recent addition of the algorithm on NiceHash, since it can offer good profitability for users. Those who want to sell their hashrate and receive payment in bitcoins directly.

So if you are using AMD GPU mining installations, you can try X11-Gost on NiceHash using the latest shminer 5.6.0 Nicehash Fork (source). We see speeds in the range of 7 to 8 MHz / s on the serial Radeon RX 480, and although it is still slower than 11 MHz / s on the standard Nvidia GTX 1070, the fact that the algorithm does not require such power, and you can use less power for GPUs can make it attractive to some users, so give it a try. The older generation of AMD GPUs may not be the best choice for this performance algorithm, and the same goes pretty much for older Nvidia GPUs, but for AMD Polaris and Nvidia Maxwell and Pascal.

Configure SGMiner (Step by step setup)

In order to start mining cryptocurrency, you need to select a pool, register on it, if the pool provides for the possibility of registration and configure the program.

Setting up and running the program:

• Step 1. Download the program (archive)
• Step 2. unzip the archive to any convenient place
• Step 3. create .bat files or edit ready-made ones

You can download this library from the official Microsoft website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784. Version 2015 may sometimes be required.

After installing the necessary environment, you must create or edit the finished .bat file to run the program.

Decoding the contents of the .bat file of SGMiner

1. name of the executable file. No need to change
2. the algorithm on which cryptocurrency will be mined. For mining Ravencoin, specify x16r
3. address of the pool on which the currency will be mined
4. pool port. It is indicated after the colon
5. login and password from the pool. If registration is not provided for in the pool, then after the -u key we indicate the address of your digital wallet of the extracted coin
6. mined coin token. Be sure to indicate some pools without this key do not understand which coin you want to mine
7. mining intensity. The range is from 0 to 20. In our example, we set 19, because at this value, the farm is stable, does not freeze, and does not restart. This parameter is set experimentally. You must run the program and test for 20 minutes. If the miner works stably, then you can add intensity.

On this, the basic configuration of the batch file can be completed. For a Ravencoin coin, we should get the following:

Run the created .bat file with a double click. The file should be in the folder with the unzipped program.

When you first run the miner on any algorithm, a configuration file will be created, which the program console will warn us about:

After successfully creating the configuration, you will see the miner console window:

1. your farm’s total hashrate
2. temperature of each video card
3. hashrate of each video card separately
4. cryptocurrency mining pool
