Kawpowminer is software that allows you to mine Ravencoin on the KAWPOW algorithm based on Proof of Work, which is the basis of ProgPoW that runs on the Ethereum network. With kawpowminer you can mine Ravencoin which relies on Proof of Work based on ProgPoW, including Ethereum ProgPoW and others. This is an actively supported version of kawpowminer. It comes from the ethminer project. The new version of KawpowMiner v1.2.4 has added support for mining on NVIDIA 30xx series cards.
realistic benchmarking against an arbitrary epoch/group of data/number of blocks
DAG generation on the GPU (no more DAG files on disk)
stratum mining without a proxy
OpenCL device selection
farm failover (getwork + stratum)
Only Ethereum-based ProgPoW implementations are supported, not the previous version of ethash or Bitcoin-based forks.
Installing and using KawpowMiner
Windows prerequisites:
1. Install Visual Studios (2019) (with the optional installation package “C ++ Cmake Tools for Windows”). 2. Install the latest Perl for \ Perl ( https://www.perl.org/get.html ) described steps and install Perl by default should work.
In order to download kawpowminer, you should go to the website kawpow miner github, and find the page with the section you want, then you install the program.
Your wallet address.
Specifies the name of your mining farm.
The server address as well as your pool port.
Since Kawpowminer is command-line software, that is, the program is run entirely through the windows command line or the Linux console (depending on which operating system you use). Also in Linux you can use scripts to create shortcuts to predefined command lines. To see the entire list of available commands to enter, you have to type the following line in the console/command line: “kawpowminer -help” (without quotes). After that you can start the miner in peace.
Why is my hash rate with Nvidia cards on Windows 10 so low?
The new WDDM 2.x driver in Windows 10 uses a different way of addressing the GPU. This is good for many things, but not for ETH mining.
For Kepler GPUs: I don’t really know. Please let me know what works best for good old Kepler.
For Maxwell GPUs 1: Unfortunately, the problem with the GTX750Ti is a bit more serious, which already leads to sub-optimal performance in Win7 and Linux. Obviously, in Linux it is still possible to achieve 4 MHz / s, which, depending on the price of ETH, can be beneficial, given the relatively low power consumption.
For Maxwell 2 GPUs: there is a way to mine ETH at Win7 / 8 / Linux speeds on Win10, by lowering the GPU driver to Win7 (350.12 recommended) and using a build created using CUDA 6.5.
For Pascal GPUs: you need to use the latest WDDM 2.1 compatible drivers in conjunction with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition to realize the full potential of your Pascal GPU.
Why is the GTX 1080 slower than the GTX 1070?
Because of the GDDR5X memory, which cannot be fully used for ETH mining (yet).
Do AMD cards noticeably slow down when the DAG size is increased?
Only GCN 1.0 GPUs (78×0, 79×0, 270, 280), but in a different way. You will see that in each new epoch (30k Blocks) the hashrate will decrease slightly.
Can I still use ETH on my 2 GB GPU?
Not really, your VRAM needs to be larger than the DAG size (currently about 2.15 GB) to get better performance. Without this there will be a serious loss of hash.
What are the optimal startup parameters?
The default settings are suitable for most scenarios (CUDA). For OpenCL it’s a bit more than that. Just play around with the numbers and use degrees 2. GPUs are similar to degrees 2.
What does the –cuda-parallel-hash flag do?
These improvements have been optimized for the GTX 1060 GPUs with a significant increase in hash rate, and for the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 / Ti GPUs, a slight but smaller improvement. The default value is 4 (which does not need to be set with the flag), and in most cases this will provide the best performance.
Can I CPU Mine?
No, use geth, the go program created for ethereum ethereum.
