Mining Super Zero (ProgPoW) – How to mine SERO coin on GPU
Cryptocurrency mining guide where we will show you how to mine SERO,also known as a coin Super Zero.A small cap altcoin that can be mined with a GPU using the ProgPoW algorithm.
Check out WhatToMine, Minerstat and other mining calculators. For some GPUs, one coin that consistently appears at the top of the profitability list is SERO. In fact, it is more profitable than Ethereum mining at present.
But just because it’s more profitable than Ethereum, don’t direct all your mining rigs to SERO. Coins with a small capitalization have certain risks.
If you want to mine a highly profitable cryptocurrency with a small capitalization and a lot of growth potential, you can consider Super Zero. SERO has a market capitalization of just $30 million and each SERO coin is worth less than 10 cents per coin. The maximum supply is 650 million and so far only about 350 million SERO has been mined.
With such a small market cap, it is much easier to grow than, say, Ethereum, which has a market cap of over $300 billion. Also the network hashrate is low right now, so you can point your spare GPUs and mine a decent amount of coins.
SERO is not a new coin on the market. It was launched in 2019 and hundreds of miners are mining this coin. Either way, it’s still in the early stages of development, so it has a lot of room for growth.
Basically if you want to mine a different coin and those who are dedicated to mining are currently mining SERO. Launched in 2019, this coin has already passed the hype stage. In any case, if the coin shoots up again after the recovery of the crypto market, you will be able to cash out your mining rewards and make a good profit.
SERO exchange and liquidity
One of the biggest problems with small cap coins is that their liquidity is quite low and they lack good exchanges. Is it the same with SERO? We usually don’t publish guides for coins that are too illiquid without trusted exchanges. We consider them dead money. But SERO is showing some activity.
Even though its liquidity is quite low (only $0.5 million in 24 hours), its market capitalization is quite acceptable. It is also available for exchange on Gate.io, which is a reputable exchange. If you want to buy/sell SERO, you can use Gate.io:
Now, before we learn how to mine SERO, a little introduction to the coin.
SERO (Super Zero)
What is Super Zero (SERO)?
SERO describes itself as a privacy protection platform for decentralized applications. It is focused on providing the highest possible confidentiality of transactions.
It is the next generation privacy blockchain and the first coin privacy protocol to support smart contracts using zero-knowledge proof. In addition, it aims to be the first platform to allow the issuance of privacy tokens and other anonymous digital assets. Developers can deploy DApps (Decentralized Applications) on the Sero network and can also issue their own privacy coins to use in the app.
SERO has also created the fastest zero-knowledge encryption library (“Super-ZK”). This is over 20 times faster than the zk-SNARKs that Zcash uses.
The Super Zero platform debuted in 2019 and is still under active development. Its native token is SERO, which is a GPU-mineable coin just like Ethereum. Except that SERO uses the ProgPoW algorithm which supports a wide range of GPUs and generally supports all cards.
SERO is both a proof-of-work and a proof-of-stake cryptocurrency. Miners are responsible for creating the block, and stakers are responsible for confirming the block. But soon he will switch to Proof of Stake. Once this happens, you will not be able to mine SERO.
Now, before you start mining SERO or any other coin, check if your graphics card is profitable and suitable for SERO mining.
How to mine SERO (Super Zero)?
SERO uses the ProgPoW hashing algorithm. This is a GPU minable coin that you can mine on your PC.
Here we will briefly show you how to mine SERO on your Windows PC as well as Hive OS.
We hope you have your GPUs ready. Now mining Super Zero (SERO coin) is easy. All you need is a wallet address, mining software and a mining pool.
SERO wallet address
First, let’s install the SERO wallet and get an address to receive mining payouts.
Find links to download the wallet. The SERO wallet is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. The light wallet is also available for Android and IOS.
For desktop, we recommend that you download a lightweight wallet. A full node wallet is time consuming as it downloads all nodes and transactions.
You can find instructions for setting up a lightweight SERO wallet on this page:
Mining Software ProgPoW SERO
The SERO ProgPoW algorithm can be used with both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. But NVIDIA cards are more efficient, so we recommend only NVIDIA card owners to mine SERO. If you have an AMD Radeon or any other cards check out whattomine. You can basically stick with Eth mining.
Fine. NVIDIA now has three mining programs that you can use.
They are all closed source and you can use any miner you want. Here we will use the T-Rex miner for demo purposes. Download and unzip the miner of your choice.
Note. After downloading the wallet or miner software, your browser or antivirus software may block the program from running. This is a false positive, so add an exception and continue downloading.
SERO mining pools
There are currently only three mining pools available for SERO mining.
Among them, Sero.cash (ASIA) is an official pool that accounts for more than 95% of the network hashrate, which is highly centralized. Then you have gongpool.com (US pool) and cartompool.com (EU pool). You can choose a pool depending on your location.
All pools charge a 2% fee, which is higher than the standard 1% fee. The high fee for the pool is due to the fact that it is a small-cap altcoin and pool operations require more profit to place it.
Since the network hashrate is low, you can also try solo mining. If you’re lucky, you’ll get into solo block mining. But this is only recommended for advanced users.
How to mine Super Zero (SERO)?
Now that you’re all set, all you have to do is set up and run the miner.bat file.
After downloading the mining software, unzip the file. After unpacking, you will find several .bat files in the folder. In the folder you will find the SERO.bat file. If not, then you can edit any existing ones or create a new batch file.
Here’s how it’s done.
In the miner folder, right click and create a new text document. Then rename it to sero.bat. It should be sero.bat, not sero.txt. Basically we change the filename extension from .txt to .bat.
Once you have sero.bat ready, right click and edit. This will open the notepad editor.
Now enter the following command.
T-Rex:
t-rex.exe -a progpow --coin sero -o stratum+tcp://pool2.sero.cash:8808 -u address -p x -w worker
Pause
NBminer:
nbminer.exe -a progpow_sero -o stratum+tcp://pool2.sero.cash:8808 -u address.worker
Pause
TT-Miner:
TT-Miner.exe -a PROGPOW -coin SERO -P address@pool2.sero.cash:8808 -w worker
Pause
The above are for the sero.cash pool and the following are for the Carrom pool. Setting up the T-Rex miner:
t-rex.exe -a progpow --coin sero -o stratum+tcp://cartompool.com:8808 -u address -p x -w worker
pause
NBminer settings:
nbminer.exe -a progpow_sero -o stratum+tcp://cartompool.com:8808 -u address.worker
Pause
TT Miner settings:
TT-Miner.exe -a PROGPOW -coin SERO -P address@cartompool.com:8808 -w worker
pause
For example, if you are mining the sero.cash pool with the T-Rex miner, your config file should look like this.
t-rex.exe -a progpow --coin sero -o stratum+tcp://pool2.sero.cash:8808 -u address -p x -w worker
Pause
Be sure to replace the address with the address of your gray wallet. After that, click “Save File” and run the sero.bat file.
SERO Mining Guide – Hive OS
If you have used Hive OS then you know how to set it up for Sero as well. The same as any other coin.
First create a new flight sheet and select a coin as Sero. Then select wallet, pool and miner from the drop down list. Then configure the miner configuration and enter the appropriate configuration.
After that, apply the changes and run the miner to start mining Sero with Hive OS.
Once you start mining, go back to the pool where you are mining and enter your wallet address. The pool will display full mining statistics. The minimum payout threshold is 0.5 sero and payouts are made twice a day. Based on your hashrate pool, your estimated daily income will also be displayed.
Now, once you start receiving mining payouts to your wallet, you can start staking Sero.
Sero staking: Sero is staked inside the wallet. At the top of your grey-wallet, you will find a menu labeled “Stake”. Click “Stake”, buy a share and enter the amount you want to stake. Now you will start earning more seros along with mining rewards.
